Electronic Billboards Once Again Ruled Illegal

photo of an electronic billboardIn yet another victory for local communities, the Arizona Court of Appeals ruled Thursday that electronic billboards along state and federal highways violate the Arizona Highway Beautification Act’s ban on intermittent light.

Digital billboards are illuminated signs that have more in common with television than with a standard sign. The messages on the boards change every eight seconds, enabling billboard companies to sell the location to numerous advertisers.
