Patti Knudson-Joiner

Patti has over twenty years of professional planning experience. Prior to founding her firm, she served as the Assistant Director and Director of Planning and Development for the City of Houston. The youngest and first woman appointed to these positions, Patti managed a $16 million annual budget and 327 employees. Other achievements include Director of the Mayor’s Land Use Strategy Committee, Chair of the Houston Railroad Committee, and author of Houston’s first in-city municipal utility district policy/tax increment financing policy, the first off-street parking ordinance, the first sidewalk cafe ordinance and the first landscape ordinance.

A strong advocate for planning, Patti serves on the executive boards of Blueprint Houston and the Urban Land Institute and is a graduate of the Center for Houston’s Future.
