Member, City of Houston Planning and Zoning Commission
For more than 30 years, Kay has devoted much of her time and energy to the improvement of the quality of life in the Houston community. In the early 1980’s, she became immersed in helping Houston neighborhoods find solutions to their problems. She was the first woman to serve on the Board of Directors of the Tanglewood Homes Association and was elected President of the Board. Kay founded the Houston Homeowners Association and served as its President for three years, growing the membership to more than 150 neighborhoods. She was appointed to serve as a member of the Planning and Zoning Commission in 1984 and has been reappointed by three different Mayors.
Kay has put in thousands of hours of service on the Boards of and volunteering for organizations such as St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, Trees for Houston, The Park People, Katy Prairie Conservancy, Buffalo Bayou Partnership, Scenic America, George H. Hermann Society at Hermann Hospital, Quality of Life Coalition, Kinkaid School American Field Service, and many more.
