Scenic Houston, along with funding partners, implemented The Campaign for Texas Avenue walking tour that celebrates this storied scenic corridor. Discover Houston’s history through nearly 60 historic markers that profile important figures of our past, their contributions to the city, and other little-known facts about Houston.

In addition, the markers point out the locations of the grand residences, fine hotels, early businesses, transportation hubs, original skyscrapers, places of worship, fine arts venues and sports facilities that have called Texas Avenue home. Your walk through history begins at Texas Ave and Bagby Street, and extends east all the way to Hamilton Street. Walk Texas Avenue and enjoy one of Houston’s greatest civic spaces!
